Why Most Leadership Training Fails (And What Works Instead)
Organisations spend billions on leadership development every year. Most programmes focus on competency models, 360 assessments, and skill-building workshops. Yet the impact on actual leadership behaviour is consistently disappointing.
The reason is depth — or rather, the lack of it. Most programmes address what leaders should do differently. Few address why they do what they currently do.
Effective leadership development works at the level of identity, emotional patterns, and internal alignment. When a leader understands what drives their decisions, reactions, and relationships, they can change them. Until then, they are simply adding knowledge to an unchanged operating system.
