The Role of Emotional Patterns in Decision-Making

Neuroscience has consistently shown that emotion is not separate from decision-making — it is central to it. People with damage to emotional processing centres of the brain cannot make decisions at all, even when their rational faculties are intact.

In leadership and professional contexts, this means that emotional patterns — fears, beliefs, past experiences, identity — are actively shaping every decision. Most of this happens unconsciously.

The Heart dimension of the 3H Model addresses these patterns directly. By bringing emotional drivers to the surface, individuals and leaders can make choices from awareness rather than reaction.
